Just earlier today I saw a Shopify ad from another marketer which is basically selling physical products online which is a great model and he was talking about how the earnings of this was a million dollars a month every single month. And here's the thing, I know for many marketers, myself included, one numbers we all love looking at is the gross revenue, which is the top of the line revenue But here's something that I learned the hard way in my journey, as a entrepreneur And it's basically coming from the angle, the mindset, that for every one dollar saved that's potentially 5 to 10$ in sales that's actually avoided,
Think about it, in every single industry the margins are usually approximately 10 to 15% depending on the market that you are in. If your margins are only 10% that means if you save a dollar you could have actually avoided making $10 worth of sales. Think about how powerful that is for second. If you saved 1000$ do you think it's easier to save 1000$ or to make 10000 $ in sales?
So most of the time if you are an employee, if you are a businessperson, and you're thinking about creating value for your business it's not just about how can we make more money, top of the line sales but also how can we become more effective, efficient with our costing to do things better because with every dollar saved it's 10$ of sales avoided,
So at the end of the day remember, top of the line sales is just vanity, but your net margins, your net profit, that is sanity.
