Good grades equals playing it safe and eventually getting average results. What do i mean by that? You know, out of all of my friends that has ever done well in college, university, getting first class honours, scholarships, those kind of people, students that excelled in studies.
First of all, I don't have a single entrepreneur friend that's running their own business today that ever got first-class honours. All of my friends who graduated top of the class, first - class, today, they're all, like, I literally mean all of them, I'm very specific with my words, but all of them that I know of today, they're working in some huge bank, financial institution, they're lawyers doctors which is of course by all means great but i don't have a single friend who excelled in school and in university that is running their own business today. And that, to me, is always something that's fascinated me. Is it coincidence? by chance? Is it just happening in my circle of friends? Or is this happening elsewhere as well? And this tendency of doing well in school it has kind of conditioned us to be a part of a mechanism of working for somebody else. We are part of a system And because we're part of a system, the opportunity cost, the cost of taking the risk of doing something else and pursuing our dreams has become so high that we might as well play it safe because we're put in all of the work to do well in school and continue to become that lawyer, or doctor, you know that financial analyst .
And to me, that is a flaw, Now here's a thing. I'm not bashing our educational system. I've been brought up in a world where I do believe that it has it's role but what i am saying is there's a huge flaw. And here's a thing What I am saying is this. If you are someone who did not get good grades, its not the end of the world. Know that I would say all of my top entrepreneur friends that own their own business they didn't do well in school.
But, at the same time, if you're somebody that excelled in your studies, great. Start thinking about, are you playing it too safe right now that you've given up on your dreams, on your ambitions, because the opportunity cost of doing it is right now just too high and you're just playing it safe.
DONT PLAY IT SAFE.
