I'm doing this to make my mom happy. I'm only pursuing this career 'cause this is what dad wants from me. You see, many times, people, and myself included, we do a lot of things to make our parents proud of us. But the question is, is that actually what you want? You see we been living in this society, whereby, especially here in Asia, where parents dictate what their kids should be studying, what kind of career path should the kids be taking. And that many times we should be doing a safe accounting and finance, marketing, or an economic degree so that we can figure out what it is that we actually want once we get that piece of paper. And why there's nothing really wrong with that, I believe that there's far too many people living their life based on their parents expectation.
And when it comes to pursuing their own dreams, their own goals, their own ambitions, weather it's a different opportunity a different industry, starting their own business, and not taking over family business, What's really necessary is for you to have that difficult conversation with your parent if that's what you need to do in order to go to the next step.
I think far too many people are just keeping quiet in order to please what their parents want, or expect of them, when in fact, really, if you really think about it, the solution is having that difficult conversation with your parent, laying all the cards on the table, saying mom, dad, when you were my age, that's what you wanted to do, you pursued your ambition and all I'm asking of you is to give me permission and to bless and accept that this is what i want to do, That's my dream that's my ambition.
You see, most of the time, what's really necessary, 'cause so many people get stuck in that, I'm doing this make the other person happy state' that they ultimately that is the worst kind of situation you want to be in, is going down the path that 10, 20, 30 years down the road you're living life in regret because you are trying to fulfill someone's else ambition,
