What makes a great boss, a great leader, a great manager? One of the things that I've discovered the hard way is when it comes to leading teams I believe that a great boss possess these few values. If you really think about it, the question I'd like you to ask is does a great boss is he a friend to all the people in the organisation? Is he a great leader because he's respected by others? Should he be managing it so that it's totally professional, where he's seen like up here and everyone else is down there? Or should he be seen as equal as everybody else?
How should a great boss or a great leader or a great manage's mindset and outlook be when it comes to managing teams? Here's what I believe, I believe that in this journey of entrepreneurship a great boss is one that is able to manage and lead a team the same way a professional football team is managed Think about it? How is a professional football team managed? First of all, there's the manager whereby he treats all of players are equal whereby if there's a star who thinks that he's better than everybody else, he or she and is this maverick and is constantly rebellious, giving trouble, that person is out. Same thing for underperformance, people who are not doing well, they get kicked out the team not because it's personal, it's just because it would be the duty and your responsibility when you're in a position of leadership to do so for the benefit of everybody else let's face it that is a really tough thing to do and of course, maybe it depends on your personality type but personally that was something that was extremely tough for me to do, to get underperformers out of team. Now, think about it, at every single time, if you're a leader, or if you want to be in the position of a leadership, you got to be able to do the things that's tough and that includes perhaps motivating your team, it's kicking out the underperformers or at least training them to perform at the level they are expected to perform, to take care of the mavericks, the geniuses, the people who have all the qualities but think that they're better than everybody else and everybody else needs them, then you got to do the hard thing,
So at the end of the day a great leader I believe is not about treating the entire company as their family or friends, it is one who is able to treat the entire team as though as it's a professional football team and make sure that it's a win for everyone.
